00:00:01 --> 00:00:03 Thank you for coming back from our replay reviews.
00:00:03 --> 00:00:06 My name is Leah. And my name is Kathy. We are
00:00:06 --> 00:00:08 two friends who are here to replay, review, and
00:00:08 --> 00:00:11 analyze your favorite video games. And since
00:00:11 --> 00:00:13 Kathy has never seen the games before, it helps
00:00:13 --> 00:00:15 me view them through her fresh eyes, almost like
00:00:15 --> 00:00:17 I'm discovering them again for the first time.
00:00:17 --> 00:00:19 We hope it will be a similar experience for you.
00:00:26 --> 00:00:30 This part is not too bad. I have twice as many
00:00:30 --> 00:00:33 notes. The out -of -contact summary is not much
00:00:33 --> 00:00:35 better, though. There's still a lot of fighting,
00:00:35 --> 00:00:38 so I don't blame you. Yeah, I'm struggling lately.
00:00:38 --> 00:00:41 But in this episode, we're keeping all those
00:00:41 --> 00:00:45 batteries. And what the f*** kind of footprint
00:00:45 --> 00:00:50 is that? That's all I came up with. It's a hard
00:00:50 --> 00:00:53 one. That's what she said. That's what she said?
00:00:54 --> 00:00:59 Did you just finger gun to me? Yeah, that too.
00:00:59 --> 00:01:02 I got way too excited. In all the years I've
00:01:02 --> 00:01:05 known you, more than three quarters of my life,
00:01:05 --> 00:01:07 I don't think I've ever pulled that move out.
00:01:07 --> 00:01:12 Oh, my gosh. That was fantastic. That was too
00:01:12 --> 00:01:20 good. Wow. Okay. Chapter eight. So a quick reminder
00:01:20 --> 00:01:22 where we left off. They reversed the Jeep off
00:01:22 --> 00:01:26 of the cliff into the water. However, they are
00:01:26 --> 00:01:29 seemingly unharmed and swim to shore to start
00:01:29 --> 00:01:32 making an escape. And this is where I start to
00:01:32 --> 00:01:35 question the camera. Not only does it still work,
00:01:35 --> 00:01:37 it doesn't need to be charged. Like how many
00:01:37 --> 00:01:40 batteries does she have on her and where are
00:01:40 --> 00:01:44 they? And how is it waterproof? And shockproof.
00:01:44 --> 00:01:48 Anyway, she shows him footage of the building
00:01:48 --> 00:01:51 that he spotted earlier and says that if the
00:01:51 --> 00:01:54 Eldorado treasure would be anywhere, it's there.
00:01:54 --> 00:01:59 The cargo unload area slash customs house. In
00:01:59 --> 00:02:02 the footage, Nathan spots a new boat, not an
00:02:02 --> 00:02:04 old boat, and says, that's our ticket out of
00:02:04 --> 00:02:08 here. So at this point, Nathan is then like,
00:02:08 --> 00:02:11 let's not continue. It's too dangerous. But Elena
00:02:11 --> 00:02:15 is like, I didn't come all this way for nothing.
00:02:15 --> 00:02:18 And it's usually the other way around. And so
00:02:18 --> 00:02:21 I really appreciate the way that they make her
00:02:21 --> 00:02:25 to be bold and assertive in a way. I also do
00:02:25 --> 00:02:30 like how He knows where to draw the line of what's
00:02:30 --> 00:02:33 not worth your life. And he says that it's not
00:02:33 --> 00:02:36 worth dying for. And I appreciate the little
00:02:36 --> 00:02:39 bit of realism to him. I agree. I really like
00:02:39 --> 00:02:41 this scene because not only does it show that
00:02:41 --> 00:02:45 he knows when to stop. I also like that she calls
00:02:45 --> 00:02:48 him out because he sort of uses her as an excuse
00:02:48 --> 00:02:50 or he's trying to. He's like, I don't need your
00:02:50 --> 00:02:53 bullet riddled. corpse on my conscience and she
00:02:53 --> 00:02:55 said if you want to quit just quit don't use
00:02:55 --> 00:02:58 me as an excuse and then he admits he wants to
00:02:58 --> 00:03:02 quit i like how we finally get some more personality
00:03:02 --> 00:03:06 for both elena and nathan drake i also like how
00:03:06 --> 00:03:08 he says it's not worth dying for and she just
00:03:08 --> 00:03:12 is like okay and doesn't push it this could have
00:03:12 --> 00:03:14 been a fight but instead it was just a disagreement
00:03:14 --> 00:03:17 i do like that because it shows how mature they
00:03:17 --> 00:03:20 are and i respect them a bit more for that I
00:03:20 --> 00:03:22 agree, because we've been feeling like Nathan's
00:03:22 --> 00:03:26 character is a little immature with his tunnel
00:03:26 --> 00:03:29 vision of finding the treasure. So I'm glad they
00:03:29 --> 00:03:32 put this scene in here, because it balances his
00:03:32 --> 00:03:40 character out. Ugh! The jet ski! I know how much
00:03:40 --> 00:03:43 you love that. In the last episode, when I said
00:03:43 --> 00:03:46 I wish that they would throw a new gameplay mechanic,
00:03:46 --> 00:03:50 this is not what I meant. This is not what I
00:03:50 --> 00:03:55 wanted. Nearing the end of their jet ski travels,
00:03:55 --> 00:03:59 though, Elena mentions some Incan curse, saying,
00:03:59 --> 00:04:01 I read a story once about a cursed Inca treasure.
00:04:02 --> 00:04:05 You don't suppose that... Please don't tell me
00:04:05 --> 00:04:08 you believe in that stuff. I'm wondering where
00:04:08 --> 00:04:11 she's getting her information from. And two...
00:04:12 --> 00:04:15 It might not be a curse. It might just be a genocide
00:04:15 --> 00:04:17 that the Spanish, they brought in. Either they
00:04:17 --> 00:04:20 decided to kill everyone or maybe a deceased
00:04:20 --> 00:04:23 took them all out and they think of that as a
00:04:23 --> 00:04:25 curse. I think there's more of a scientific reason.
00:04:25 --> 00:04:28 I didn't think Elena would be thinking that it's
00:04:28 --> 00:04:32 a curse. So at some point they part ways but
00:04:32 --> 00:04:35 find each other again and then get back on the
00:04:35 --> 00:04:38 jet ski to the next destination. Nothing important.
00:04:39 --> 00:04:43 But we do get to see the John Marston special
00:04:43 --> 00:04:46 with his jumping and his legs, his knees going
00:04:46 --> 00:04:50 to shoulder level. I love a stationary jump in
00:04:50 --> 00:04:55 a video game. Moving on to chapter nine. So we
00:04:55 --> 00:04:57 start out with another jet ski escape with Elena.
00:04:58 --> 00:05:01 Your favorite. So they get to their next destination
00:05:01 --> 00:05:05 and Elena says that he has to get to that tower
00:05:05 --> 00:05:07 and says that she'll meet him at the customs
00:05:07 --> 00:05:11 house. What's she gonna do? Why does he need
00:05:11 --> 00:05:14 to go to the tower again? I don't remember. I
00:05:14 --> 00:05:16 thought we were just going to the customs house.
00:05:17 --> 00:05:23 Yeah. I don't know. Bit confused. I am as well.
00:05:23 --> 00:05:25 Speaking of, my next note is, we make it to the
00:05:25 --> 00:05:28 customs house, question mark, and let Elena in,
00:05:28 --> 00:05:29 question mark. Why are we here, question mark?
00:05:30 --> 00:05:33 Were we not going to the tower, question mark?
00:05:34 --> 00:05:37 I'm confused. I don't know if it's just an us
00:05:37 --> 00:05:40 issue. Or not. I don't know if we missed something.
00:05:40 --> 00:05:44 But that was all I had for Chapter 9. I had no
00:05:44 --> 00:05:50 notes. Fair enough. Chapter 10, then. They head
00:05:50 --> 00:05:53 out to the harbor to find the boat. On the way,
00:05:53 --> 00:05:55 they find a records room where the Eldorado treasure
00:05:55 --> 00:05:59 is noted in a logbook. The last entry in the
00:05:59 --> 00:06:04 logbook. So we get another romantic scene where
00:06:04 --> 00:06:08 she's questioning about the... ring that he wears
00:06:08 --> 00:06:11 around his neck she probably pegs him as like
00:06:11 --> 00:06:14 one of the solely type of guy where flirt with
00:06:14 --> 00:06:17 them and then call it a night kind of situation
00:06:17 --> 00:06:21 and no in fact it is not it is his ancestors
00:06:21 --> 00:06:25 ring the francis streaks ring sorry so like you
00:06:25 --> 00:06:30 said ancestors oh ancestors sorry i don't know
00:06:30 --> 00:06:36 if it was my ears or your mouth but both But
00:06:36 --> 00:06:39 when she's looking at this ring, she has to get
00:06:39 --> 00:06:42 all up in his business and just be maybe six
00:06:42 --> 00:06:45 inches away from his face. The thing that bothers
00:06:45 --> 00:06:48 me about this, though, is the date on the ring
00:06:48 --> 00:06:50 is, Nathan says, one day after he supposedly
00:06:50 --> 00:06:55 died. As if this is like undeniable proof that
00:06:55 --> 00:06:59 he didn't die or that he faked his death. Can
00:06:59 --> 00:07:03 history not be off by one day? And maybe the
00:07:03 --> 00:07:06 date. had nothing to do with his death it could
00:07:06 --> 00:07:10 be a date where it's the 50th anniversary of
00:07:10 --> 00:07:17 him and his wife's wedding or whatever yeah the
00:07:17 --> 00:07:19 ring also has coordinates which is how he found
00:07:19 --> 00:07:23 the coffin so maybe that in line or in hand with
00:07:23 --> 00:07:27 the date somehow proves that he's alive or was
00:07:27 --> 00:07:31 alive didn't die on that day she wants to get
00:07:31 --> 00:07:33 more footage so she sends him to get the boat
00:07:33 --> 00:07:36 And says to come pick her up. I don't understand
00:07:36 --> 00:07:38 why you would split up with each other in this
00:07:38 --> 00:07:40 type of situation. That's the last thing I would
00:07:40 --> 00:07:44 do if I was being hunted by other men with guns.
00:07:45 --> 00:07:51 I question it. Well, chapter 11. Okay. Well,
00:07:51 --> 00:07:53 my first note of chapter 11 is, are his knees
00:07:53 --> 00:07:58 okay? Because this man hobbles down the stairs.
00:07:58 --> 00:08:02 I don't know. Why does he run like that? Why
00:08:02 --> 00:08:06 does he jump like that, too? Yeah, I think his
00:08:06 --> 00:08:09 knees are not okay. He sneaks up to the boat
00:08:09 --> 00:08:11 as enemies are loading it up, but then Elena
00:08:11 --> 00:08:14 pops up next to him saying, you really need to
00:08:14 --> 00:08:17 see this. And he tries to, like, tell her to
00:08:17 --> 00:08:19 hold on, and she's like, no, you have to see
00:08:19 --> 00:08:22 this. I don't understand why game people do this,
00:08:22 --> 00:08:24 or even in movies where I don't have the time.
00:08:25 --> 00:08:26 Or if you know you're not going to have his attention,
00:08:27 --> 00:08:30 just tell him. Just say what you need to say.
00:08:30 --> 00:08:32 Instead of making someone watch 30 seconds and
00:08:32 --> 00:08:36 could have been shot during that time. The video
00:08:36 --> 00:08:39 is of Sully. She says it's not like they're holding
00:08:39 --> 00:08:41 him at gunpoint. And he says, yeah, it seems
00:08:41 --> 00:08:43 weird. So we're a little suspicious of Sully.
00:08:43 --> 00:08:45 But while we're looking at this, the boat leaves.
00:08:45 --> 00:08:48 And off of what you were saying, I feel like
00:08:48 --> 00:08:50 this could have waited. That video wasn't going
00:08:50 --> 00:08:52 anywhere. We already know this camera is invincible.
00:08:53 --> 00:08:56 Okay, so. Somehow they figure out that the boat
00:08:56 --> 00:09:00 is heading to the monastery. So they head that
00:09:00 --> 00:09:03 way. And while discussing Sully, they say we
00:09:03 --> 00:09:05 either rescue him or beat the crap out of him.
00:09:05 --> 00:09:08 I like how they're not jumping too far into conclusions
00:09:08 --> 00:09:11 and they give themselves that really there's
00:09:11 --> 00:09:13 nothing to contemplate over or overthink things.
00:09:14 --> 00:09:18 He's either with you or he isn't. So on the way
00:09:18 --> 00:09:20 there, they're walking across a bridge and Nathan
00:09:20 --> 00:09:22 is like, watch your step. And Elena does not
00:09:22 --> 00:09:25 watch her step. Immediately, I swear, aims for
00:09:25 --> 00:09:29 the broken board and falls through. She has to
00:09:29 --> 00:09:31 drop the camera in order to get pulled up, which
00:09:31 --> 00:09:34 she does. I also want to reiterate how unprepared
00:09:34 --> 00:09:37 they are that her camera doesn't have some kind
00:09:37 --> 00:09:39 of strap that she can strap onto herself and
00:09:39 --> 00:09:41 harness. Like, what if you need two hands? Way
00:09:41 --> 00:09:44 too unprepared for this. This could have been
00:09:44 --> 00:09:47 avoided. I agree. Do you know what I wish could
00:09:47 --> 00:09:50 have been avoided? This whole trip? The next
00:09:50 --> 00:09:55 jet ski. When I saw that, my heart sank. And
00:09:55 --> 00:09:58 that is the entirety of chapter 12. It's just
00:09:58 --> 00:10:01 the jet ski. I thought I hated it before. New
00:10:01 --> 00:10:03 kind of hate. This is like upriver. This is against
00:10:03 --> 00:10:07 the current jet ski. Your driving on it took
00:10:07 --> 00:10:10 me out too with the just constant scraping on
00:10:10 --> 00:10:16 the side of the river. It is... It's infuriating.
00:10:17 --> 00:10:19 Well, did you have any notes on chapter 12? No.
00:10:20 --> 00:10:24 I just love how mad you are about this chapter.
00:10:25 --> 00:10:28 Okay, well, chapter 13. They dock the jet ski
00:10:28 --> 00:10:31 and head for the monastery. They're walking through
00:10:31 --> 00:10:35 the forest, and then they come across this dead
00:10:35 --> 00:10:39 guy that's on, like, a spiky trap. But at the
00:10:39 --> 00:10:43 base of the spiky trap is a footprint. What is
00:10:43 --> 00:10:45 that? I don't know what that is. I don't know
00:10:45 --> 00:10:48 what to think of it. So they make it to where
00:10:48 --> 00:10:51 Sully is being held. He's not tied up, but he
00:10:51 --> 00:10:54 does seem to be trying to annoy the guards. And
00:10:54 --> 00:10:57 then we stare at them until they spot us. Well,
00:10:57 --> 00:11:04 more shooting and more guns and more irritation
00:11:04 --> 00:11:08 from you. And then we get to chat with Sully.
00:11:08 --> 00:11:12 He's in an awfully jolly mood. They clear things
00:11:12 --> 00:11:15 up and they realize that Sully is still on their
00:11:15 --> 00:11:20 side. I really appreciate Nate giving the credit
00:11:20 --> 00:11:23 for Elena finding Sully. This maturity is making
00:11:23 --> 00:11:26 me really appreciate their character arc compared
00:11:26 --> 00:11:29 to some of our past video games. And then again,
00:11:29 --> 00:11:31 he's pretty much hinting at Sully that treat
00:11:31 --> 00:11:35 her with respect. Don't leave her behind. You'd
00:11:35 --> 00:11:38 be dead if it wasn't for her. Yeah, I like it
00:11:38 --> 00:11:40 too. We're seeing growth in the characters and
00:11:40 --> 00:11:43 we're seeing that they have critical thinking
00:11:43 --> 00:11:47 skills. So back to them questioning him and how
00:11:47 --> 00:11:49 he's alive. He says, you're not going to believe
00:11:49 --> 00:11:53 this, and pulls out Drake's journal. It stopped
00:11:53 --> 00:11:56 the bullet. That's insane. What kind of journal
00:11:56 --> 00:11:58 is that? Yeah, it does not look thick enough
00:11:58 --> 00:12:00 to stop a bullet, especially when the gun was
00:12:00 --> 00:12:02 that close. But I'm not a ballistics expert.
00:12:03 --> 00:12:05 After that, when they realized he was alive,
00:12:05 --> 00:12:08 he convinced Roman that he needed him to get
00:12:08 --> 00:12:11 to the treasure. So I've been trying to mislead
00:12:11 --> 00:12:13 him ever since, waiting for you to show up. And
00:12:13 --> 00:12:16 the journal isn't destroyed enough that to the
00:12:16 --> 00:12:18 point where you can't see what it is, we're able
00:12:18 --> 00:12:22 to use it to get the clues that we need to move
00:12:22 --> 00:12:24 forward in this area. The treasure is right here
00:12:24 --> 00:12:27 in the monastery. What are they going to do if
00:12:27 --> 00:12:29 they find this? Are they going to lug it all
00:12:29 --> 00:12:33 out and somehow bring it onto an airplane that
00:12:33 --> 00:12:35 they don't have or a car that they crashed? This
00:12:35 --> 00:12:38 thing doesn't look small. I agree. I'm confused
00:12:38 --> 00:12:41 on what their plan is. We use the clues in the
00:12:41 --> 00:12:43 journal to solve some puzzles and guide our way
00:12:43 --> 00:12:47 to the land of the dead under the library. And
00:12:47 --> 00:12:50 that is where the chapter ends. How are you feeling?
00:12:50 --> 00:12:56 Still good? Yeah. This was more of a character
00:12:56 --> 00:13:00 building chapter. I'm fine with it. I think it's
00:13:00 --> 00:13:03 a bit better than the previous episode where
00:13:03 --> 00:13:05 there really wasn't much going on. I'm looking
00:13:05 --> 00:13:07 forward to seeing what's in part four and hopefully
00:13:07 --> 00:13:10 it starts. Kicking it up a notch where we get
00:13:10 --> 00:13:14 more cut scenes and more substance. The cut scenes
00:13:14 --> 00:13:17 together compiled is pretty darn good. I like
00:13:17 --> 00:13:21 it. Especially I like this type of genre and
00:13:21 --> 00:13:24 film. It just feels like an early 2000s movie,
00:13:25 --> 00:13:26 you know, like that we would have watched growing
00:13:26 --> 00:13:30 up. So I like it. I find it comforting. This
00:13:30 --> 00:13:33 week's going to be a little different. We're
00:13:33 --> 00:13:35 not going to post gameplay this Friday. We're
00:13:35 --> 00:13:38 posting it next Friday. Because next week's episode
00:13:38 --> 00:13:42 is going to be a special episode. I mean, do
00:13:42 --> 00:13:45 we reveal it? Or do we just leave it as a special
00:13:45 --> 00:13:49 episode? It's a special episode. Let's leave
00:13:49 --> 00:13:52 it like that. It's a special episode. It'll be
00:13:52 --> 00:13:53 good. And after that, we'll be right back to
00:13:53 --> 00:13:55 Uncharted. So if you're enjoying the Uncharted
00:13:55 --> 00:13:59 series, you won't have to wait long. That is
00:13:59 --> 00:14:03 all. Audacity on one, three, two, one. Thank
00:14:03 --> 00:14:05 you for listening, and don't forget to send in
00:14:05 --> 00:14:07 any questions, comments, or game suggestions.

00:14:15 --> 00:14:17 Are we way off the mark? Or do you just want
00:14:17 --> 00:14:19 us to take a deeper look at anything from the
00:14:19 --> 00:14:21 game? We'll tackle any topics you all want to
00:14:21 --> 00:14:23 hear in our season wrap -up episode. We also
00:14:23 --> 00:14:25 have a Reddit where we discuss anything we're

00:14:30 --> 00:14:32 by Eggie Toast. They'll play you out, and we'll
00:14:32 --> 00:14:33 be back next week.
