[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if you can tell that my voice sounds weird.

[00:00:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, I don't know if that'll come through to the audience at all.

[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_03]: But it sounds weird to me and I couldn't figure out why for a second.

[00:00:11] [SPEAKER_03]: And then I remembered.

[00:00:13] [SPEAKER_03]: I played Mario Party last night with my brother and our friends.

[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_03]: It got heated.

[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_03]: We need to do the ad contact summary.

[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_03]: So...

[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_03]: In this episode, we meet some classic criminals.

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_03]: They don't say f***.

[00:00:32] [SPEAKER_03]: We make pedestrian pancakes and little old lady must be unpacking some heat.

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for coming back from our replay reviews.

[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_03]: My name is Leah.

[00:00:43] [SPEAKER_03]: And my name is Kathy.

[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_03]: We are two friends who are here to replay a review and analyze your favorite video

[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_03]: games.

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_03]: And since Kathy has never seen the games before, it helps me view them through her

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_03]: fresh eyes, almost like I'm discovering them again for the first time.

[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_02]: We hope it'll be a similar experience for you.

[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Are we ready for scene one?

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's get to it.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Actually before we get there.

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_02]: We had to acknowledge this is the first time we did a morning podcast.

[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_02]: We've never done a morning podcast.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_02]: That is that is a good thing to announce and we'll probably explain a lot of the

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_03]: things that will probably happen.

[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Of course, so does recording.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_03]: But what I was going to say is this was your pick.

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_03]: This is Kathy's pick.

[00:01:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I gave you a few a bundle, a bundle of trailers to watch that I felt would fit

[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_03]: in with our other games this season.

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_03]: And this is what you picked.

[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm excited for you to see it.

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm glad you picked it because I had a lot of fun playing it.

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm really excited about this game, too.

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_02]: There's something about the quality of the design.

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like they took heavy rain design and they just elevated it made it so

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_02]: much better.

[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And I'm really excited because we start with a really awesome California

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Soren camera angle is going in the quality's nice.

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_02]: The music's great.

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's just fantastic.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm liking part one so much and I'm so excited to see the rest.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I'm glad you mentioned the California Soren.

[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure we've mentioned it before, but the monitor that my work sent me

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_03]: because I work remotely is too big.

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_03]: It looks like a television.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_03]: So when I was watching this game play with you last night, I was starting

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_03]: to like freak out because it felt like I was in VR.

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And the thing is your TV has a remote.

[00:02:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Not your TV, your monitor has a remote just like a TV.

[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_02]: I thought I added that.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I added that.

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_03]: But yes, it feels like a TV.

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_03]: OK, now now are we ready for scene one?

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_03]: So we meet Tammy and Detective Norman.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_03]: This is not the first law enforcement Norman we've met this season.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_03]: So that's kind of interesting, mildly, not really.

[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Turns out Tommy contacted him and he wants to trade information

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_03]: on a cold case for protection for his wife and daughter.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_02]: One skeptical about Detective Norman because who knows if he's

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_02]: maybe he's a gang member that's pretending to be a detective and getting info.

[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Where did he come from?

[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Is he just going to take that information and then leave Tommy Hain?

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, we don't know much about him, but I understand it that the detective isn't going to.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_02]: He he has the upper hand right now.

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And if anything, I mean, the cold case has gone cold for so long.

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't really matter.

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's probably desperate to get this case solved.

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_03]: It sounds like it was his first case as soon as he arrived in the city

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_03]: and the detective can tell that Tommy has a target on his back

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_03]: and he uses that as leverage and kind of makes Tommy tell him his story

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_03]: before making any promises.

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_03]: And this is when we flashback to 1930 when it all started.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_03]: So in 1930, as a cab driver, we meet two guys, Sam and Polly,

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_03]: who are being chased by some people and crash.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_03]: And they force Tommy at gunpoint to give them a ride.

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_03]: He takes them safely to a place called Salieri's and they pay him handsomely.

[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, they also give Tommy a really great story to say that if someone asks

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_02]: us about X, Y, C, C, ABC,

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_02]: and it's like they're very experienced of from doing this kind of stuff

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_02]: with normal people.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exactly.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_03]: He says, if anyone asked about the money you wanted a poker

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_03]: and the scratches on your car are from swerving to avoid hitting a little lady.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_03]: But what about the bullet holes, though?

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Like I was in the wrong set of town.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Granny got a gun.

[00:04:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Sam also tells him not to hesitate to ask for a loan, honest work, etc.

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Because, and I quote, the Don doesn't forget his friends.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, so far the mafia doesn't seem so bad, right?

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it doesn't.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And they awarded him handsomely.

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's true.

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_03]: We go back to modern day and Tommy is again talking to Detective Norman

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_03]: and says, I didn't want to get in with criminals.

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_03]: It's better to be poor and alive than rich and dead right there.

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Back then I was out.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_02]: That totally for shout is whenever someone starts a sentence like that,

[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_02]: there's going to be a butt and then it's going to go on.

[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Exactly. And maybe we'll see it sometime later, though.

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Tommy is working as usual.

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I noticed a mechanic pop up on the screen for a speed limiter.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And I can tell you, I did not see that when I played the game.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know if that had anything to do with my driving skills.

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to blame it on that.

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_03]: But you know what?

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I get better.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_03]: You would not let me hear the end of it, though.

[00:05:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_02]: But from a viewer's standpoint, I'm just preparing you for

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_02]: if people are negative in our comments watching a play through.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_02]: I was just preparing you for that negativity.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Number one in my defense, the game I played before this game

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_03]: was Red Dead Redemption, not even the second one, the first one,

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_03]: not the remake because that was before this.

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_03]: And I don't even think the remake is any better.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not going to buy it.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_03]: It's different is all I'm going to tell you.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, I think I have to make you play it.

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_03]: I think I have to make you play it.

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_03]: And, you know what? We'll see how good you do.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not. I mean, my eight year old niece

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_02]: schools me in playing PS4.

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_02]: I got to look down and see like triangle like which one's triangle?

[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_02]: I got to look down so I'm not going to be any better.

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_03]: It takes a minute to get used to these controls.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think I'm the only one, but I might be.

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_03]: And that's OK.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_03]: But also during these drop offs,

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_03]: what do you call these fairs?

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_03]: They're called fairs.

[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, his first customer says,

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_03]: my only advice is stop smoking in your car.

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_02]: No, that was her tip instead of giving him an actual like tip

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_02]: for financial compensation.

[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_02]: She's given like that kind of tip and says that word of advice

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_02]: kind of thing, which is really rude.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_02]: See, I understood tip as advice, not as money.

[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, no, I think she's just substituting

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_02]: instead of giving him tips, which I think is a typical thing to do.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I think she's just giving him advice.

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's like, you know how and I hate this in the restaurants

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_02]: when you get your check and instead of putting a tip amount,

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_02]: people put zero and word of advice, smile more or whatever crap at you.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_02]: She's doing the same. Never heard of this.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I need to know how people interpreted this now.

[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Was she was she saying I'm not going to tip you?

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Your tip is stop smoking in your car instead of like.

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Five cents or is she just saying, hey, some advice

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_03]: to improve your experience?

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't smoke in your cab.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know which one.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know now. OK, we need to get back on track here.

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_03]: My point was though, before we started this rabbit trail,

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_03]: is that really her advice or her tip?

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Not don't run over pedestrians, not don't crash into other cars,

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_03]: both of which I did.

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Seems like smoking should be pretty long on that list, but that's just my opinion.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_03]: His last customer for the day says that he should go get a cup of coffee

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_03]: and take a break at some person's coffee shop, he knows.

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_03]: And while this happens, a few of Morello's men, who we haven't met yet,

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_03]: they attack him because they're angry at him for helping salmon Polly.

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_03]: And this is when Tommy makes a run for it back to Sally Aries restaurant

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_03]: where Sam and Polly scare Morello's men away.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm curious why Tommy decided to run back to

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Sam and Polly when he could have just hid.

[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_02]: You can definitely tell it some more in the recording.

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_02]: I've always been hearing it.

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_03]: We need to make a compilation.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_03]: That's just all of our throat noises.

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_02]: He has clearing it.

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I throw it.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Because I always do my best to cut them out.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_03]: But I have a feeling like all the like lip smacking and like throat clearing.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_03]: If you just add that into one video, it's going to be horrible

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_03]: for some reason people are going to watch it.

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know why.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_02]: It's like the anti ASMR and we can't label who's who.

[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_02]: You got to mix it up together and all the inhales do like.

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_03]: OK, anyway, yeah, that's a good question.

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I think maybe just, I don't know, maybe he just wasn't thinking

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_03]: he did get kicked on the head pretty hard.

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_03]: But anyway, they bring him inside to meet the Don who offers to pay

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_03]: for the damage to his cab.

[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_03]: But Tommy just wants a shot at the bastards who are acting like a cab.

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Is that the mistake?

[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I mean that and running to them, you know that they're the mafia.

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_02]: At some point, you know the reason why and going in is she's going to

[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_02]: suck you in, but you going there and asking the Don for permission.

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_02]: He's not your boss or anything.

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_02]: You don't need to ask him for permission and you're showing a pretty

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_02]: darn bloody streak of vengeance in your blood that you want to go and attack them.

[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_02]: You could just let it settle, but he shows to do things the mafia way.

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's your biggest downfall is you want to seek revenge

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_02]: instead of letting it settle.

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, all they gave him was a baseball bat.

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure he could have found one of those.

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Or you like call the cops.

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Salieri sends Polly with Tommy to go bust up some of their cars and send a message.

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_03]: And Polly's so rude to Ralphie, their mechanic.

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my gosh.

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_02]: That's another notes.

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_02]: Polly is such a bully to Ralphie.

[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_02]: I had my hopes high up hoping that Tommy, if he makes it into the mafia

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_02]: and like pretty high up, he's going to like protect Ralphie and make him

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_02]: be his driver or just something to protect him from being bullied.

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_02]: But my goodness, and Tommy doesn't say anything just lets Polly bully him.

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I hate that.

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And Ralphie is just so nice and he's it's so sad that he gets bullied like that.

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, he's nice until he he says, when did I'm going to cut your break line

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_02]: asshole? I mean, to be fair, Polly had that come in.

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_03]: It escalated a little quickly.

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_03]: But he's an asshole to him.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah, it's true.

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_03]: So Tommy and Polly do bust up some of Morello's cars and they still

[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_03]: some guy named Dino's car and then return to Salieri's.

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Salieri then offers Tommy a job and he accepts.

[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_03]: And because he accepts, Salieri lays down the ground rules.

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_03]: He makes his operation sound kind of upstanding considering it's.

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Organized crime.

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_03]: They don't cuss.

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_03]: They don't do drugs, but number one for him is loyalty.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_03]: And so Tommy is accepted into the family.

[00:12:16] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a gentleman's mafia.

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a gentleman's mafia.

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_02]: So that was obvious, a trial run for Tommy to see if he's going to

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_02]: have what it takes to be in the mafia and Polly supervised him.

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_02]: But for some reason I get a vibe that Sam sitting there at the table

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_02]: doesn't seem to really like Tommy.

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if it's that he feels threatened by him.

[00:12:38] [SPEAKER_02]: He thinks are comparable.

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_02]: He doesn't trust him.

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Back to the detective.

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Tommy says that things were pretty mild for a while until he, Sam and

[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Polly were sent on a collections job.

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_03]: And then we flashback to Salieri handing out this assignment.

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_03]: And it seems like he likes to compare himself to Morello.

[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_03]: He talks about Morello being a hot head or stupid.

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Stupid.

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_02]: I think he just talks about him whenever he's mad.

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_02]: He can't think and he has crap for brains.

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_03]: He's comparing his tactics to Morello's and saying like Morello breaks legs.

[00:13:14] [SPEAKER_03]: We don't work better than that.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know, there's something there, a little animosity.

[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I wonder if Morello is his like brother or they grew up in the same mafia

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_02]: and they split.

[00:13:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Mm hmm.

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Curious about that backstory.

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_03]: At first the collections are going just fine.

[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_03]: And so the last stop at a rural motel, that's hard to say.

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Rural.

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_02]: Rural.

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Rural.

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_02]: More.

[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_02]: It's in the morning.

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_02]: It's the morning.

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, collections are going fine until the last stop at a rural motel.

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Polly gets shot and the gunman says to tell Salieri this place is ours.

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_03]: And injured Polly then begs Tommy to go rescue Sam who has been captured

[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_03]: and they're trying to get information out of him.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_03]: So that's probably not a very pleasant situation.

[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Tommy went real quick from saying that he didn't want to deal

[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_02]: with criminals to okay boss and let's go get that money.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think some time went by but I'm not sure how much time went by.

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know, but either way because he says it was pretty mild

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_03]: for a while and he was moving crates or whatever.

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_03]: And now it's like war.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_03]: So either way, it's a big jump up for sure.

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Tommy is able to rescue Sam, but somebody makes a run for it with the cash.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_03]: So Tommy chases him down and after he stops them, we hear him tell

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Detective Norman, I should have took off then and there,

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_03]: but I couldn't go back to being a nobody.

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_03]: He's addicted to the violence now.

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's talk about this a little bit because it's the Great Depression.

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Right?

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_03]: They referenced that a few times.

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_03]: They were in the Great Depression.

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_03]: He's a cab driver making 30 cents.

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_03]: So I can see the appeal for sure.

[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I see the appeal, but I don't know.

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's also about living a better life that he now has someone else

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_02]: because we don't only see him having any family members.

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I think he mentioned his mom, right?

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_02]: But he doesn't really have much going on in his life.

[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_02]: And finally he finds a group that he has some purpose in a way.

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_03]: So that kind of goes into our next or my next note, which is back with the detective.

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_03]: They have sort of like a little mild debate about chance versus choice.

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_03]: And so I guess like did Tommy have a choice?

[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Because he got dragged into this by chance with Polly and Sam running up on him.

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_03]: He backs out.

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_03]: He chooses to back out.

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_03]: And then when he's attacked by Morello's men,

[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_03]: is he sort of dragged back into it by by chance again?

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_02]: It started out as chance all up to the point where he chooses to want to seek

[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_02]: revenge and to break their cars with a bat.

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a choice.

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And he could have backed out.

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_02]: He could have just taken the money or he could have just said no to that money

[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_02]: and use the money he previously got and just fix his car and just continue with life.

[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I agree with that.

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_03]: My only question that I wonder about is would he still get bothered?

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, because he already has that mark on him, even though that he didn't

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_03]: choose to have that mark on him.

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_03]: He still has it on him.

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_03]: So that's my only question of like how much choice was there really?

[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I think he definitely leans into it.

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_03]: But what are his choices?

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_03]: All we've seen so far as he gets pushed around while he's being

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_03]: an upstanding citizen, you know?

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_03]: So is the flip side of that like in order to protect yourself, you have

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_03]: to go bad and join the mafia like take the money and move to the city?

[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I feel like either move or you stay by her flight.

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think I kind of land on it was chance.

[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_03]: And then he leaned into it a little bit as they're talking.

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Tommy then asks Norman if he's heard of a boxer named Joey Crackers.

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_03]: And then he tells a story.

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_03]: We see Crackers get re-rendered by Morello.

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_03]: We finally see him who then proceeds to beat Joey.

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm pretty sure to death with a tire iron.

[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Norman argues that that story can't be true as Morello made a good

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_03]: amount of cash off of Joey, but Tommy says that it didn't matter in that

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Don Sallieri chalked it up to Morello and not being able to think

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_03]: straight when he's mad.

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_02]: He can just commit murder and broad daylight in the place

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_02]: turn their eyes away from it.

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Goes to show how much money and power he has on his payroll like we know it.

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Sallieri talked about it, but this is the first time we've seen

[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_02]: how much the mafia controls the city.

[00:17:57] [SPEAKER_03]: It's one thing to turn a blind eye to like some racketeering,

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_03]: you know, some extortion, but to turn away from a murder being

[00:18:09] [SPEAKER_03]: committed because of a little rear ender when it was clearly Morello's fault.

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a different level.

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a different that's not just being in his pocket.

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_03]: That's being terrified of him, too.

[00:18:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Are we ready for scene four?

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, the dreaded the dreaded race.

[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_03]: OK.

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_03]: So in our last section of gameplay, Tommy is asked to use his driving skills.

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_03]: He is again talking to the detective and says that things were pretty

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_03]: routine for a while again, but they also had some fun.

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_03]: And this is when he starts telling the story of the race.

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_03]: So back in time, the Don asked Tommy to help sabotage

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_03]: a race car of a rival driver in an upcoming race.

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_03]: It sounds like a lot of people both in the mob and just citizens

[00:19:02] [SPEAKER_03]: who come to the dawn for financial advice, which by the way, don't do that.

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_02]: You're going to the person who if you want to commit illegal financial

[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_02]: transactions, yes.

[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_02]: But this is the guy who's probably having a whole bunch of tax evasion and everything.

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know if he's the guy you want to go to.

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_02]: But at the same time, I could see the peel because people are struggling

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_02]: as the depression and they just don't have that much money.

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_02]: And the Don looks like he's doing good business.

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So I could see why they would go to him for financial advice.

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_02]: But you must be ready to give up your right arm and a child.

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And a child, your right arm and your left child.

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. So a lot of people both inside and outside of the mob

[00:19:46] [SPEAKER_03]: are going to lose money if Sally Aries driver loses.

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Don is certain that a fancy new driver is actually Morello's guy.

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_03]: And so there's a little extra, a little extra juice behind this

[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_03]: for getting this done.

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Tommy does succeed in sabotaging the car,

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_03]: which makes it not drive properly.

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_03]: And somehow I did better driving this messed up car

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_03]: than I did driving a normal car in this game.

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Lucas is the person who helps sabotage the car

[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_02]: and he goes and tells Tommy saying that, hey, I can

[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I want to be part of the team if you need another person.

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know about Lucas.

[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like he may or may not betray the mafia or.

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_02]: OK, so I don't know if Lucas is going to be part of

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_02]: Sally, Sally Aries team.

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_02]: But I feel like, oh, gosh, I feel like

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_02]: let me try that again between the.

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Hold on, let me get some water.

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_03]: We're talking like it's seven o'clock.

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_03]: It's 12 15.

[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_02]: We're night owls.

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not that early anymore.

[00:21:01] [SPEAKER_02]: No, but here's the thing.

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_02]: We record from like nine or 10 till midnight

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_02]: or like 1 a.m.

[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_02]: What's the latest we ever done it?

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_02]: So doing it this early makes a difference.

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_03]: You're over there with morning throat goo

[00:21:14] [SPEAKER_03]: and I'm over here sipping an energy drink

[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_03]: like it's a butt crack of dawn and it's literally lunch time.

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Where were you?

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_02]: OK, let me try this again.

[00:21:33] [SPEAKER_02]: So Lucas is telling Tommy saying that,

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_02]: hey, if you guys need an extra person, I'm down.

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_02]: But at the same time, I feel like he may or may not betray

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Sally Aries team because he's so desperate

[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_02]: and maybe he's going to be the type where he's mad

[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_02]: if he doesn't get a cut or even though he feels like he's

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_02]: obligated to get something and he deserves it.

[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So he might be something

[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_02]: or someone that's going to turn on them

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_02]: like he just wants.

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he wants and he wants money.

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_03]: But what does he want more?

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Does he want to be part of the mafia or does he just want money?

[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Because if you just want some money, that's definitely going

[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_03]: to cause troubles if you're trying to get it from the mafia.

[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_03]: So I agree.

[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_03]: It seems like he's he should tread lightly

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_03]: and maybe a little lighter than he is.

[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_03]: All right. So now it is race day.

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_03]: The things do not go according to plan.

[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Frank informs Tommy that he will be Sally Aries

[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_03]: new driver after Morello's guys roughed up their original.

[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Thankfully, Tommy wins after about 35 attempts on my end.

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And yay, everyone has their money.

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_03]: The bank of Sally area is still functioning.

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I need to know people.

[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I need to know how many times, how many times did it take you?

[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_03]: It was brutal.

[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_03]: They throw the there's nothing else to say.

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_03]: It's horrible.

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_03]: I had to take like three breaks during the course of recording that.

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, you didn't need to know that.

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Apparently, his reward for winning the race

[00:23:07] [SPEAKER_03]: though is to drive a drunk Polly home,

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_03]: which is pretty entertaining, I will say.

[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Polly's pretty funny, but he needs to learn to be quiet

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_02]: when he's drunk because that's going to get him in a lot of trouble.

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_02]: He's already saying something that him and Sam are keeping

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_02]: the real stuff from him.

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know if that's in a good way or a bad way,

[00:23:28] [SPEAKER_02]: but I feel like that's going to be something that Tommy gets his hands on

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_02]: and it's going to turn it over to Detective Norman.

[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_03]: So I also love when Tommy starts driving him away

[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_03]: and Polly is like, I told the dawn he can drive.

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_03]: He's a driver as the car is going.

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Wait, wait, wait, wait.

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_02]: At least you didn't rear end something.

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_02]: It's true.

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And Polly is a funny drunk.

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_02]: He goes, take me to the patooties.

[00:24:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Just take me to the sweet patooties.

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Don't say patootie.

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like that's a turn off.

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_03]: It's an immediate turn off.

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_03]: It's funny, but it's a turn off.

[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_02]: It's at this point in the game

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_02]: because I didn't really understand what was going on in the front part

[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_02]: that I realized that, dude, Sarah is going to be Tommy's girl.

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's the daughter and the wife

[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_02]: that his family is going to have all thanks to.

[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Sarah, and it's nice.

[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_02]: You mentioned this when we were watching it

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_02]: that it's nice to have a really witty female character,

[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_02]: a great change from a lot of the female characters

[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_02]: we've seen so far in the season and even in season one too.

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Too serious.

[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Too brooding.

[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_03]: We like the joke, Sarah.

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_00]: And hey, when you're done celebrating,

[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_00]: you might want to go find your buddy Polly.

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_00]: He's so drunk, he's going to get hit by a parked car.

[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Anything else for this episode?

[00:24:59] [SPEAKER_02]: No, but I'm curious what's going to happen in the next part.

[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_02]: It's so nice to get this game.

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_02]: It's pretty refreshing compared to the serious tone

[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_02]: that we see in Yakuza and in Outlast.

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm excited.

[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I like the layout of this game,

[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_03]: the format of the storytelling.

[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I like that we go from the detective back in time

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_03]: and we just sort of see step by step how Tommy ended up here.

[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I really enjoy that.

[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I think it's unique to what we've played so far.

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_03]: OK, so.

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_03]: We're tracking a couple things in this series.

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Near misses, which is when I make a pedestrian skedaddle backwards.

[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_03]: And I didn't count every single one

[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_03]: because I think a few of them were overreacting.

[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_03]: OK, calm down.

[00:25:51] [SPEAKER_03]: How many near misses do you think were in part one?

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I'd say about 25.

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_03]: If I could if I could slap you through the screen.

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, just throw you never out there.

[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_02]: It's probably more like 13.

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_02]: I would never hit you.

[00:26:11] [SPEAKER_02]: No, you're you're off.

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_02]: I'd say 13.

[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_02]: I changed my answer.

[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Better seven.

[00:26:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Seven.

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_03]: OK.

[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_03]: And then we were going to do hits, but I changed it to.

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Peepies.

[00:26:31] [SPEAKER_03]: What?

[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_03]: The cat is called Peepies.

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_03]: It's pedestrian pancakes.

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_03]: How many innocent pedestrians did I run over with my car?

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think you did any.

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Did you? Oh, I did.

[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_02]: One, two, three.

[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_02]: You can't just go up and increments of one.

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_03]: You got to pick a number.

[00:26:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I'd say three.

[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_03]: You are correct.

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, three pedestrian pancakes.

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_03]: What's that, a grand slam at Denny's?

[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't frequent Denny's.

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know why I said that.

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't I've never been to Denny's.

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_03]: So you're not going to miss out.

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_03]: You're not missing out.

[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Also, Denny's.

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Denny's like, listen, OK, I don't know if this is still the case

[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_03]: because I have not been there in a hot minute, but the last time I was there,

[00:27:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't want to order anything off of your menu because everything is titled

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_03]: in a pun.

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't want an order a moons over my hammy sandwich.

[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I just want a ham and cheese sandwich.

[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_03]: OK, don't make me feel like an like a tool

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_03]: trying to order some food.

[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Get it out of there.

[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_03]: All right, well, we'll see through the course of the series.

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_03]: How high the pancake, the pedestrian pancake stack is going to be?

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_03]: Do you have a guess for how many pedestrian pancakes are made during this

[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_03]: this whole game? Five parts.

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Or how many parts?

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_03]: We have I think so.

[00:28:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Let me verify.

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_02]: OK, I feel like because you get better,

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_02]: can't do an average of three per episode.

[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Five parts. Yes.

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_02]: It has to be under 15.

[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to go eight. OK.

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Eight Peepies and then near misses 13.

[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_02]: That's like 50.

[00:28:21] Bring it back down.

[00:28:23] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm bringing it back down.

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_02]: So I have to get you have to keep it.

[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not an average of 13 in episode.

[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I think you get better.

[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll do.

[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like 47 is still too high.

[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll do 35.

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_02]: All right.

[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, written in Sharpie.

[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Permanent marker.

[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Permanent answers.

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Is that actually, you know what?

[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_03]: There's a couple other things that I'm going to reveal in the summary.

[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_03]: So I might have you guess those now as well.

[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_03]: OK, there's just a lot of good stats in this game.

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to know what you think my head shot percentage will be.

[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not counting it as every time the gun goes off.

[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_03]: If the bullet hits the target, that counts in the in the percentage.

[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_03]: So so if I shoot at someone, right?

[00:29:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Three shots go into the body.

[00:29:15] [SPEAKER_03]: So one's in the one's in the tum tum.

[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I hate that I just said that was in the stomach,

[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_03]: wasn't the shoulder and was in the chest.

[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Tum tum can't so natural.

[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm drinking an energy drink and it changes me.

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_03]: It changes me.

[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, dear.

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_03]: So I shoot I shoot the body three times, right?

[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_03]: A stomach shot, chest shot, a shoulder shot, right?

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_03]: And then I hit the head.

[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_03]: So that's one one out of four is a head shot.

[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_03]: So that would be that percentage.

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_02]: OK, so of all the kills, I'd say about, yeah, let's do 35 percent heads

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_02]: and and 65 percent bodies noted and in Sharpie.

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_03]: And then the last category is innocent bystanders.

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_03]: So these are people who more pedestrians.

[00:30:09] [SPEAKER_03]: So pedestrian pancakes, you get shot, you get molotov.

[00:30:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Any innocent bystander, someone not involved in the fight,

[00:30:16] [SPEAKER_03]: they get hurt in some way.

[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_03]: How many total?

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I'll do forty seven.

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Forty seven innocent bystanders.

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_03]: All right, noted.

[00:30:26] [SPEAKER_03]: It's in the file.

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Now we can end the episode and we can wake up.

[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, actually eat breakfast.

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_03]: As you said that my stomach growled

[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_03]: and I'm a little bit freaked out.

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_02]: OK, Tum Tum.

[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what's wrong with you.

[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_02]: It's we're a mess this morning.

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_03]: OK, and please.

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_02]: OK, a dacid on one three two one.
