Welcome back to Uncharted 1! In part five, we analyze our final gameplay video where competition for the lost treasure heats up as the trail nears its end and loyalties are tested. 00:00:55 --> 00:01:01 Eddie and one of his men run in. Things get interesting.
00:01:02 --> 00:01:04 Yeah, I thought this was going to be about a
00:01:04 --> 00:01:07 game that's in more realistic terms. The last
00:01:07 --> 00:01:09 thing I expected was seeing this monster come
00:01:09 --> 00:01:13 out. Yeah. But more zombie -like than Wendigo,
00:01:13 --> 00:01:18 though. I don't know what that is. I think they're
00:01:18 --> 00:01:21 referred to as demons a couple times. Yeah. Which
00:01:21 --> 00:01:23 makes sense that they talked about there is a
00:01:23 --> 00:01:26 curse on the island and they're just kind of
00:01:26 --> 00:01:29 giving us a foreshadowing. But I'm assuming that
00:01:29 --> 00:01:30 those are the things that we heard from last
00:01:30 --> 00:01:35 episode. I hope so. I hope there's not something
00:01:35 --> 00:01:38 else. And it's also probably what left that footprint
00:01:38 --> 00:01:41 by the trap that we saw. They've dropped a few
00:01:41 --> 00:01:45 subtle hints. Well, Nathan and Eddie fight them
00:01:45 --> 00:01:47 off, but of course, Eddie has to taunt them,
00:01:47 --> 00:01:50 which leads to him getting grabbed. Nathan does
00:01:50 --> 00:01:52 try to save him, but then he gets bit in the
00:01:52 --> 00:01:56 neck and falls. pretty violently bite in the
00:01:56 --> 00:01:59 neck it's just not just it's a oh yeah he went
00:01:59 --> 00:02:03 for it i'm confused on nathan and eddie's backstory
00:02:03 --> 00:02:06 because they seem like enemies but here they
00:02:06 --> 00:02:08 seem kind of like they they like each other's
00:02:08 --> 00:02:11 company a bit eddie could have just thrown nate
00:02:11 --> 00:02:15 to the wolves or the monsters in this case he
00:02:15 --> 00:02:18 didn't have to be so friendly and we're like
00:02:18 --> 00:02:20 on the same team at some point eddie could have
00:02:20 --> 00:02:23 been like here get nate and then he runs off
00:02:23 --> 00:02:26 but he doesn't do that even though he says hey
00:02:26 --> 00:02:28 just wanted to let you know i hate you and i
00:02:28 --> 00:02:32 don't blame the guy so at this point i don't
00:02:32 --> 00:02:34 know how i feel whether he's a mother respecter
00:02:34 --> 00:02:38 or a mother just because he could have sacrificed
00:02:38 --> 00:02:41 nate in the situation but also you can't quite
00:02:41 --> 00:02:44 blame him because nate killed most of his men
00:02:45 --> 00:02:48 I kind of agree. I feel like everyone's kind
00:02:48 --> 00:02:50 of the same, which is a different perspective.
00:02:50 --> 00:02:53 They're all doing the same things. The only thing
00:02:53 --> 00:02:57 about Eddie, and this is with a big if on when
00:02:57 --> 00:02:59 he found out about these creatures, is he was
00:02:59 --> 00:03:02 fired and chose to still stay on the island and
00:03:02 --> 00:03:05 keep his men on the island because they all died.
00:03:05 --> 00:03:08 But it just depends on timing, like when he found
00:03:08 --> 00:03:11 out about these creatures and all that. So I
00:03:11 --> 00:03:13 don't know. I have a hard time labeling him as
00:03:13 --> 00:03:16 a mother. Just because everyone in this game
00:03:16 --> 00:03:18 is doing the same thing. I don't think he's a
00:03:18 --> 00:03:20 mother. It's hard to say he's a mother respecter
00:03:20 --> 00:03:23 because he didn't do anything besides choose
00:03:23 --> 00:03:27 to not hurt Nate and chose to fight alongside
00:03:27 --> 00:03:32 him. But he's not a mother either. So mother
00:03:32 --> 00:03:34 neutral? Yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking.
00:03:35 --> 00:03:38 Okay, so while all this was going down, Elena
00:03:38 --> 00:03:43 found a... That was a big one. Elena found a
00:03:43 --> 00:03:46 rope. and gets it down to Nathan so he can climb
00:03:46 --> 00:03:48 up. But they're still being chased, though they
00:03:48 --> 00:03:51 do eventually make it to safety behind closed
00:03:51 --> 00:03:54 doors. And they discover that the Nazis were
00:03:54 --> 00:03:58 here. The Nazi thing is kind of out of the blue.
00:03:58 --> 00:04:01 When watching that, I was like, oh, where did
00:04:01 --> 00:04:03 that come from? I mean, there was the U -boat,
00:04:04 --> 00:04:07 but that was like ages ago in this game. That
00:04:07 --> 00:04:10 was like part one. And now this isn't just a
00:04:10 --> 00:04:12 boat. This is like a whole compound that they
00:04:12 --> 00:04:16 built. They were here for a minute. Anything
00:04:16 --> 00:04:21 else on chapter 17? Oh, um... We could probably
00:04:21 --> 00:04:23 cut this out, but I was just gonna think that...
00:04:23 --> 00:04:27 I like how Nate is... Toast. Sparking at his
00:04:27 --> 00:04:30 food. He always has to scream flavor into it
00:04:30 --> 00:04:38 or something. His spit. Yeah. I like how Nate...

00:05:36 --> 00:05:39 blame him. But why'd he do it? Yeah, that was
00:05:39 --> 00:05:43 kind of on him. Anyways, I like how Nate is pretty
00:05:43 --> 00:05:46 caring towards Alina and letting her know that,
00:05:46 --> 00:05:49 okay, I'm going to be back, but also worrying
00:05:49 --> 00:05:52 that he's leaving her in a situation like he
00:05:52 --> 00:05:54 says, I don't want to leave you here after those
00:05:54 --> 00:06:00 monsters across the hallway. Moving on. Scene
00:06:00 --> 00:06:04 two. No notes from me. I have one note. Chapter
00:06:04 --> 00:06:07 18. Nathan heads out to find the generator so
00:06:07 --> 00:06:10 they can get the power on, allowing them to leave.
00:06:10 --> 00:06:14 Done. Scene over. Scene three. Ready for chapter
00:06:14 --> 00:06:19 19. So after dodging monsters, Nathan finds himself
00:06:19 --> 00:06:22 in the generator room. He turns on the power,
00:06:22 --> 00:06:27 which unleashes monsters aplenty. And after escaping
00:06:27 --> 00:06:30 the generator area, he finds an old video of
00:06:30 --> 00:06:34 a zombie. One of these things. Doesn't quite
00:06:34 --> 00:06:35 look like one of these things. Tied to a pillar.
00:06:36 --> 00:06:39 along with a photo of francis drake's body slash
00:06:39 --> 00:06:43 the statue slash a nazi but also a note indicating
00:06:43 --> 00:06:46 the eldorado treasure is cursed and this curse
00:06:46 --> 00:06:49 was unleashed by the spaniards who are now demons
00:06:49 --> 00:06:52 the author francis drake destroyed all the ships
00:06:52 --> 00:06:56 and drowned the city to stop the curse how did
00:06:56 --> 00:07:00 this projector turn on but also it gives a very
00:07:00 --> 00:07:04 outlasty feel with the monsters in the film and
00:07:04 --> 00:07:07 the projector just playing Don't know if I like
00:07:07 --> 00:07:09 that. I know what I was trying to say, though.
00:07:09 --> 00:07:14 The photo he picks up is the idol with Francis
00:07:14 --> 00:07:17 Drake dead in front of it and a Nazi posing with
00:07:17 --> 00:07:21 him. I bet Nate now feels bad about dissing his
00:07:21 --> 00:07:25 ancestor, knowing that Francis Drake was a bit
00:07:25 --> 00:07:28 of a hero and chose to make sure it kind of stays
00:07:28 --> 00:07:34 here instead of giving up or to be a villain
00:07:34 --> 00:07:37 and to take it back. and ruin things for everyone.
00:07:38 --> 00:07:41 Imagine saving all of humanity, and your great
00:07:41 --> 00:07:43 -great -great -great -great -great -great -great
00:07:43 --> 00:07:46 -great nephew says you wasted your life for nothing.
00:07:48 --> 00:07:53 Curse this boy. So, as Nathan tries to find his
00:07:53 --> 00:07:56 way back to where he left Elena, he sees across
00:07:56 --> 00:07:59 the way that Roman and Navarro have captured
00:07:59 --> 00:08:01 her, and they walk off to go find the treasure.
00:08:02 --> 00:08:07 And then... Kind of in a bit of a bye, Nate does
00:08:07 --> 00:08:11 the finger guns. And while we were watching that,
00:08:11 --> 00:08:15 you said that whatever Nate's face looked like
00:08:15 --> 00:08:18 was my face when I did my finger guns a few episodes
00:08:18 --> 00:08:21 back. It was the face and the guns themselves.
00:08:21 --> 00:08:25 I was like, that's Kathy. They walk off, and
00:08:25 --> 00:08:27 then Nate then hears a commotion and says, that
00:08:27 --> 00:08:30 can't be good. Cue another firefight, but this
00:08:30 --> 00:08:34 time, monsters are added to the mix. Chapter
00:08:34 --> 00:08:39 20. Nathan shoots, surprise, his way outside
00:08:39 --> 00:08:41 where he communicates with Sully, who's in need
00:08:41 --> 00:08:44 of help at the church. So we join him there and
00:08:44 --> 00:08:47 we shoot our way out of the church area and into
00:08:47 --> 00:08:51 the church, where another shootout begins. They
00:08:51 --> 00:08:55 open a secret passage under the altar. Is it
00:08:55 --> 00:08:58 bad that I have no notes for it either? All I
00:08:58 --> 00:09:00 did was summarize what happened. There wasn't
00:09:00 --> 00:09:04 really anything to discuss. let's move on then.
00:09:05 --> 00:09:08 Chapter 21. Sully and Nathan enter the secret
00:09:08 --> 00:09:11 passage where they find the statue, the treasure,
00:09:11 --> 00:09:14 surrounded by Roman and his men. Elena is still
00:09:14 --> 00:09:17 captive. Well, I'm glad that Sully's not dead
00:09:17 --> 00:09:19 because the entire part of this, I'm like, oh
00:09:19 --> 00:09:20 no, Sully's gonna die because there's these monsters.
00:09:21 --> 00:09:26 So, the next thing that happens is Navarro, like,
00:09:26 --> 00:09:28 he convinces him to open it. He's like, the real
00:09:28 --> 00:09:32 treasure's inside. And inside is a body. And
00:09:32 --> 00:09:36 then Roman inhales something from it, and Navarro's
00:09:36 --> 00:09:39 like, watch this, to Elena. Roman turns into
00:09:39 --> 00:09:42 a zombie, and Navarro kills him. He and his men
00:09:42 --> 00:09:45 start packing up the artifact, and that's when
00:09:45 --> 00:09:48 the icky monsters begin to swarm the room. Why
00:09:48 --> 00:09:51 would Roman just believe what Navarro's saying?
00:09:51 --> 00:09:53 Hasn't he seen enough movies that the person
00:09:53 --> 00:09:56 who usually opens it is usually a booby trap
00:09:56 --> 00:09:58 or something? And then how does Navarro know?
00:09:59 --> 00:10:03 To tell Elena, watch this. He seems to know exactly
00:10:03 --> 00:10:06 what's happening here. Why would you still insist
00:10:06 --> 00:10:11 on moving it outside? Mm -hmm. So my burning
00:10:11 --> 00:10:13 question at this point is, who's that person
00:10:13 --> 00:10:18 inside? I agree. Also, who closed the artifact
00:10:18 --> 00:10:23 last? Because we know Sir Francis Drake, like,
00:10:23 --> 00:10:26 shut the island down, right? But it seems, based
00:10:26 --> 00:10:28 off of this, that as soon as you open that thing...
00:10:28 --> 00:10:32 you become a zombie. So I don't know who closed
00:10:32 --> 00:10:34 it because you would have to be close enough
00:10:34 --> 00:10:36 to be turned into a zombie unless you hold your
00:10:36 --> 00:10:40 breath and you're fine. I kind of wish that there
00:10:40 --> 00:10:44 was more buildup about a curse and conversation
00:10:44 --> 00:10:47 about monsters in this. And we'll talk about
00:10:47 --> 00:10:49 it more in the summary, but I think it's a bit
00:10:49 --> 00:10:53 of a missed opportunity. Yeah, very limited hints
00:10:53 --> 00:10:55 where it's kind of like, well, why'd you bother
00:10:55 --> 00:10:59 saying anything at all? Well, you guessed it.
00:10:59 --> 00:11:02 Another shootout begins and Nathan tries to ensure
00:11:02 --> 00:11:04 that the artifact does not leave the island.
00:11:04 --> 00:11:07 He manages to cling to it as it's being dangled
00:11:07 --> 00:11:11 from a helicopter. He's shot at until Elena kicks
00:11:11 --> 00:11:13 the shooter out of the helicopter. She's awesome
00:11:13 --> 00:11:16 for doing that. Causing him to shoot the pilot.
00:11:16 --> 00:11:23 That's crazy. I have in my notes, Navarro manages
00:11:23 --> 00:11:28 to land the helicopter. On a large boat. Translation,
00:11:28 --> 00:11:33 he crashes. Where Nathan drops down also. I don't
00:11:33 --> 00:11:35 know how he managed to be unscathed through all
00:11:35 --> 00:11:39 this. But Elena appears unresponsive as Navarro
00:11:39 --> 00:11:41 jumps out of the helicopter, triggering another
00:11:41 --> 00:11:45 shootout. And it also looked like Elena was crushed
00:11:45 --> 00:11:47 under the helicopter. I don't know about you,
00:11:47 --> 00:11:49 but my first impression was like, she's dead,
00:11:49 --> 00:11:52 dead for sure. Body split in half. No one should
00:11:52 --> 00:11:55 have survived that. You ready for chapter 22?
00:11:56 --> 00:11:59 Yes. Nathan enters an eternity -long shootout,
00:11:59 --> 00:12:02 ending with defeating Navarro in a fistfight.
00:12:03 --> 00:12:05 Hey, at least they mixed it up a little bit at
00:12:05 --> 00:12:09 the end. I appreciated the QTE fistfight instead
00:12:09 --> 00:12:13 of just shooting. So Nathan wakes up Elena and
00:12:13 --> 00:12:15 gets her out of the crash before pushing the
00:12:15 --> 00:12:18 teetering helicopter into the ocean, causing
00:12:18 --> 00:12:21 a metal cable to snag Navarro, dragging him and
00:12:21 --> 00:12:25 the artifact into the ocean. deserves it yeah
00:12:25 --> 00:12:31 so long yeah so long mother yeah he's a mother
00:12:31 --> 00:12:37 he actively unleashed the curse so okay uh and
00:12:37 --> 00:12:40 slowly pulls up in a boat we have another cute
00:12:40 --> 00:12:42 moment and usually don't care for it but there's
00:12:42 --> 00:12:45 something kind of cute about these two she surprises
00:12:45 --> 00:12:48 him with his ring necklace which i'm kind of
00:12:48 --> 00:12:51 glad that annoyed me but again she's very smart
00:12:51 --> 00:12:54 reminds me a bit of sarah from mafia they're
00:12:54 --> 00:12:57 about to kiss and then slowly interrupts it classic
00:12:57 --> 00:13:01 but i like the no kiss part to this because it
00:13:01 --> 00:13:04 gives off the same kind of vibe that you get
00:13:04 --> 00:13:06 from jurassic park and so i think it's a really
00:13:06 --> 00:13:10 cute kind of ending like will they won't they
00:13:10 --> 00:13:12 continue this relationship is she going to show
00:13:12 --> 00:13:15 up in the second or third game if nate continues
00:13:15 --> 00:13:17 to be in this game and she'd be a great addition
00:13:17 --> 00:13:20 to it so i kind of like the way they're kind
00:13:20 --> 00:13:23 of ending this couple -y thing. Not quite a romance.
00:13:25 --> 00:13:27 I agree. They do a good job. They balance it
00:13:27 --> 00:13:29 well. But it's because they gave her substance.
00:13:30 --> 00:13:32 You know, she wasn't just there for the romantic
00:13:32 --> 00:13:36 plot. That's true. Well, when Sully interrupts
00:13:36 --> 00:13:38 them, he does show them a stash of treasure on
00:13:38 --> 00:13:40 the boat. Which, that has to be heavy. How is,
00:13:41 --> 00:13:43 like, are we not worried about the boat sinking?
00:13:43 --> 00:13:44 Because it's not a big boat. Are we not worried
00:13:44 --> 00:13:49 about another curse? Right. So, that pretty much
00:13:49 --> 00:13:53 is the game. That is the game. I have an inkling
00:13:53 --> 00:13:56 that the summary episode is going to be two burning
00:13:56 --> 00:13:59 questions, our summarizing thoughts on the game,
